  I picked out the lighting for the house and thought I'd share my choices before they are shipped my way and installed in the house. It's one more of those details that will become a part of the big "after" reveal. Kitchen Pendants: These will go above the island and above the sink. Dining Room: This Chandelier matches the pendants, and both are a part of an Energy Star collection of lighting. Stairwell: The stairwell will get a simple sconce.   Seeing some results - Electric, Plumbing, Gas and Drywall Construction, Plumbing & Electrical | (1)

  I haven't posted for a few days, and there's been a lot of things going on at the house. The electrician wrapped up, so did the plumber (who also ran the gas lines), and the drywall is up and ready to mud. The upstairs construction should be wrapping up this week.   Electrical Gets Underway Plumbing & Electrical | (0)

  I grabbed a couple pics of the electrical getting underway in the house tonight (it's not as exciting from a picture point of view). I'm sure it will take another couple nights before it's completely wrapped up. Other than moving a few plugs, putting electrical in the utility closet, and adding about 12 cans and 2 pendant fixtures, the electrical is pretty simple for upstairs. Here's a before and now: And here's some new cans in the living room. Lots more light than previously. The two nearest the fireplace will shine light on the fireplace.

  Picking Plumbing Fixtures Plumbing & Electrical | (0)

  I went down to Standard Plumbing on my lunch hour and picked out my plumbing fixtures for the upstairs bathrooms. I decided to go with a more modern looking set for the master bathroom (called "Icon"), and a more traditional set for the hall bathroom (called "Eva). When I finish the basement, I'll match either one or the other depending on the one I prefer. I stayed with brushed nickel finish on both of them, since I think it will stand the test of time better than the chrome or polished brass that is so popular. Plus I think they'll ...
