  So a couple of you who've visited this site have asked - "what's going on at the 70's house?" Well, there has been lots of progress, but most of it doesn't look dramatic in the photos, so I've held off posting some more. Last week was filled with a lot of work to skim coat the walls (hiding the majority of the poorly done "orange peel" texture) and some of the ceilings (killer work!).   Seeing some results - Electric, Plumbing, Gas and Drywall Construction, Plumbing & Electrical | (1)

  I haven't posted for a few days, and there's been a lot of things going on at the house. The electrician wrapped up, so did the plumber (who also ran the gas lines), and the drywall is up and ready to mud. The upstairs construction should be wrapping up this week.   Surprise? Well, not exactly. Replace that Roof! Construction, Demolition | (0)

  All the signs were there, the drooping ceiling in the hall bathroom, the slightly musty smell in the master bedroom, some rust spots around the windows in the master bathroom, etc. And so I went into buying this house thinking that there may be a problem with the roof from the get-go. But since I purchased the house completely covered in snow, I didn't know for sure. Once I took down the sofits in the kitchen and tore out the master bathroom ceiling tile, it was clear that there was a problem and I'd need to replace the roof. The ...

  Upstairs Construction Begins Construction | (0)

  So there wasn't a lot of framing to be done upstairs, but the contractor I hired (Chris) is doing an excellent job. He mentioned that the house was "built well" because most of the existing walls were plumb and level. That's always good news. There were 3 areas of construction upstairs: 1. Header & Bar Wall: The new open header between the kitchen/dining and living areas, and the small bar-wall that will be connected to the island. 2.
