Finish Work, Paint and Tile, Plans and Ideas

Details, Details, Details…

As we near the completion of the upstairs, all the details start to come together. So I thought I’d share some of those in a big post.

We picked the faucet for the kitchen. It has a nice basic shape, but will look good with the other brushed nickel hardware and granite countertops.

Faucet

We picked some interesting heat registers to go over the areas of wood floor. (We could have just used white ones… but I guess I cared a little too much what it would look like.)

Heat Grates

Door hardware is brushed nickel, with knobs that are rather shallow and flat. I think they’ll match nicely with the doors and trim.

Door Knobs

The cabinet hardware is long and thin. A mixture of traditional and modern. It will add some real “bling” to the cabinets and correspond with the other brushed nickel around the house.

And toilets. Man, I never knew how difficult it would be to shop for toilets. There are so many things to compare and all of them seem different. Low flush, eco-friendly, chair-height, etc. I ended up choosing two different toilets styles, one for each bathroom. The winner will also be put downstairs.

Can covers. Now how exciting are those?

Light Covers

Kitchen backsplash. Since the kitchen is the center of this home, and the big selling point - I decided on a glass tile for the backsplash. It has a brick pattern that picks up the floor and cabinet colors. (It’s the one on the lower right.)
