  Chris has completed all the trim work in the house, other than the one closet door and the front door that are still on order from Home Depot. Abraham and I have begun to paint it, and have finished most of the public spaces of the house. Check out some snapshots: Doorknobs are also starting to be installed!

  The granite was installed today, and here's a couple shots of how it turned out: Kitchen: Hall Bathroom: Master Bathroom: All the backsplashes will be in travertine tile that matches the other tilework in the house.

  I decided on the granite I was going to use today. I'm using a company called TL Custom Countertops that I had seen in the Parade of Homes. Bathrooms: I chose remnants for both the bathrooms that looked very close to this (remants save you a lot of money): Kitchen: And for the kitchen I chose Santa Cecilia: Either picture is not really accurate, but it gives you an idea of where I'm going - very neutral.   Let There Be Light Plans and Ideas, Plumbing & Electrical | (0)

  I picked out the lighting for the house and thought I'd share my choices before they are shipped my way and installed in the house. It's one more of those details that will become a part of the big "after" reveal. Kitchen Pendants: These will go above the island and above the sink. Dining Room: This Chandelier matches the pendants, and both are a part of an Energy Star collection of lighting. Stairwell: The stairwell will get a simple sconce.   Changed My Mind - New Front Door Finish Work | (1)

  So I had mentioned before that I liked the glass on the previous front door I had picked out, but wasn't quite happy about the bottom part. Well, that thought turned me to finding a new door. The door is on special order, so I don't have a picture of it yet, but here's one that's similar that I found online: The door will also have a "dentil shelf" that is included just below the windows that gives it that traditional craftsman style look.   Details, Details, Details… Finish Work, Paint and Tile, Plans and Ideas | (0)

  As we near the completion of the upstairs, all the details start to come together. So I thought I'd share some of those in a big post. We picked the faucet for the kitchen. It has a nice basic shape, but will look good with the other brushed nickel hardware and granite countertops. We picked some interesting heat registers to go over the areas of wood floor.   Sneak a Peak at the Trim Progress Finish Work | (0)

  Doors and trim have begun to appear all over the house as installation progresses. After going to 2 Home Depots on several occasions to get doors and trim (they seemed to be out of stock at one or the other), visible progress has started to take place in the house.   Getting Fit & Trim (And Doors) Finish Work | (0)

  My friend Abraham and I spent the evening at Home Depot working with the nice folks in orange putting together an order for trim and doors. They didn't have everything we needed, but after loading up over 1,000 linear feet of trim, we were okay with that. We were working of list furnished by Chris that included over 1,500 linear feet of trim in 3 sizes, 3 entry doors, 7 interior doors, and 7 bi-fold doors.
