Flip in Utah

It seems that everyone I’ve spoken with lately tell me that now is a good time to buy a house. (This includes my mortgage guy, my title company, and several vendors I’ve visited around asking about pricing for this and that). The economy seems to be telling me the opposite. As for me, I follow my gut. I agree. Now’s a good time to invest in real estate.

As many of my friend’s know, I’m a big HGTV watcher. If television were carpet, you’d see a big thread-bare section where HGTV is. I’m not a real estate expert, nor am I really that handy. I’m a regular guy whose a little bit creative, a little bit talented, and a little bit of a risk taker, who’s looking for something new to try.

When I built my last house, I didn’t know much about blogging or blogs, so with this house I’d like to record some of my experiences along the way as a journal to share with family and friends on my experience in doing a “flip”. The name I chose for the blog not only is literal since I am in Utah, and I am doing a “flip”, but also quite comical, since substitutes for swear words are quite commonly used in Utah such as “flippin’” or “fetchin’”. (For those of you who don’t understand Utah-isms)

Expect in the next post to hear a little about the house, and get some lovely “before” pictures. In the mean-time, I’ve got to figure out how to use flickr to get you the pictures.
